Personal Interests:
My personal interests are wide and vast. Aside from my interests in Art & Design, I enjoy going to live gigs to see my favourite or latest bands play. Music is a big passion of mine, though I can not play an instrument properly yet, or even read music, I have bought and taken up the acoustic guitar.
In 2001 at the peak of my fitness I completed the London marathon. My time was 4:59:56, I trained hard through tough winter days and nights, but just for that one day it was worth every second. I intend to train for another; injuries & old age permitting.
I am motivated and keen to learn new things all the time, I believe that ‘We’ never stop learning in our lives and that it is important to keep trying and exploring.
Having travelled to some very interesting places and eaten some very nice things too, I enjoy travel as it re-freshens a tired mind and inspires many things. Travel sparked an interest in cooking for me and cooking to experience other cultures through food. My favourite kitchen gadget is my pasta machine and the results are worth the effort!
I have a good sense of humour and enjoy working within a team. I think my best qualities are my determination and enthusiasm to achieve my goals whilst remaining down to earth. I enjoy participating in all types of sport, recently I have taken up playing squash with a friend; though it is a tough sport but much fun.
I played football for many years for competitive teams on both Saturday & Sunday. Now though I occasionally play in goal when organised with friends. Previously I learnt to swim front crawl properly as an adult because I did not get sufficient tuition as a child, now I swim front crawl fine but not long distances.
I am young at heart and it may seem a little sedentary, when relaxing I enjoy computer games. The graphics these days surpass my expectations and the game-play is immersive. It’s a sector that I would have loved to have been involved in, that, and to make music on my computer.
The other ‘bucket-list’ things to do would be to read more books. One of my favourite writers is ‘Jack Kerouac’, He seemed to have had great adventures across America and freedom whilst meeting great artists, writers, poets, actors and vagabonds!
It is enjoyable to work on graphics that have an element of movement and animation to it. It’s also nice to design a usable interface and add interactivity in the multimedia.
I passionately like music, so, it follows that I would like to try and produce my own ambient tracks or a mean house tune! The trouble with the production side is that I am unskilled in music and know nothing of it, apart from a brief attempt on ‘Ableton’; it would just mean me going in at the deep end and seeing the results!
I am interested in Arts & Crafts too, there is something quite satisfying about making a ‘thing’. Creatively, it’s a process too. I have used my skills to produce a few bespoke items for my dwelling. Under-stairs cupboards and light panels above the doors have led to some nice touches. It’s my next goal to attend some suitable evening classes.
